Busy Week Chili

Busy Week Chili!

With less then a week to the baby shower, we're going into high gear. This Bean Casserole is a family favorite that's easy to make at the beginning of these oh-so-busy weeks and lasts for a few meals. Make it on the stove top or crock pot. Cook the hamburger first, then add all the ingredients into the crock pot and slow cook on the lowest setting for about 2 hours. If using the stove top, simmer on the lowest temp for 20-30 minutes.
This is Sydney's modified version....most of the ingredients are the original....except pork and beans were used instead of Bushes Beans, back when she was a little girl!

1 pound hamburger, cooked
1/2 chopped yellow onion.
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can black pinto beans (drain liquid before adding black beans)
1 large can Bushes Beans (seasoned beans or brown sugar and maple)
2 diced tomatoes
small squirt of yellow mustard
about 1/3 cup of ketchup (or more)
three dashes of worcestershire
3 Tablespoons of brown sugar
salt and peper to taste.

The beauty of this recipe is that it holds well in the fridge and freezes really well. You can also add less or more of each ingredient to fit your own taste. My husband uses it with the Boy Scouts on their overnighters. Using a dutch oven, they add in cubes of cooked steak along with the hamburger. Yummy! I already have some Bean Casserole in the freezer, ready to eat, as we get ready for the final prep and set up for Jenna's baby shower.

So what HAVE we been so busy with? .................

We've hired ourselves as chief party decorators ..

A "dad bag" for the dad-to-be. Assortment of "dad" things so he can be included while so much attention is paid to pregnant mom :)

Baby Towel to be signed by party guests..

More fabric of course! And lounge pant creations...

Don't mind that toilet there in the background..

Ode to Amy B!

If there is any interest in a lounge pant tutorial Jenna can post it easily (and it only takes a few hours) This week we'll post more pictures as the party planning progresses!

Can you make me some lounge pants? I really want to be just like you. Plus, I don't have anything nearly this cute! :) I am the same height as you (but like my stuff a little too long, and I weigh... yeah right like i'm going to say my weight on here). But seriously I want some and you can send them to me anytime. I will be checking the mailbox regularly! :) <3
