Summer Reading List

As I've spent the better part of the day researching and reading I've come across a lot of summer reading lists. My favorite one put out by the Wall Street Journal is what JP Morgan bank recommends it's billionaire clients to read. This list is so popular that they have now come out with a winter reading list as well.

So my question is, what are you reading this summer? Beach reads or literary classics?

Right now I'm reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer. You can read it online for free until July 5 at: http://www.breetanner.com/. If you want to buy it for your Twilight collection I believe it's only $8. If you're reading it yourself, tell me your thoughts!

What's on your TBR list?!

  1. I have a 7ish page list of books that I want to read and it's ever-growing. Not for just the summer though. Pretty much for all of life...and beyond. :D

  2. J...ooooohhhh! Love this post. Love what Shelby said about her list of books...."for all of life....and beyond". So great. My summer reads, thus far..I read more than one book at a time. So, I am almost done with The Aloha Quilt..An Elm Creek Quilts Novel by Jennifer Chiaverini...love these books. Have started reading a book that a friend suggested I read called, Almost Sisters..The Company of Good Women by Anderson, Littke and Morris. Have yet to start one of my all time favorite book series, The Double Comfort Safari Club...No 1. Ladies Detective Agency Novel...by Alexander McCall Smith. And Dad and I are reading Gerald Lunds, Fishers of Men...The Kingdom and the Crown. I read it years ago and finally got Dad hooked into taking on a summer read! READ ON!!!!!! xo

    White Out by Robert Marcum
    Enna Burning by Shannon Hale
    Heat Wave by Richard Castle
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The new Stephenie Meyer book like you :)
Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

And there are about 30 or 40 other books on my to read list.

  5. I just finished The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale and Ranger's Apprentice (Book 1), which Keith has been bugging me to read. The Goose Girl was recommended by Corinne and I loved it. It is a good story and well-written. Ranger's Apprentice is fast-moving and a great read for a 15 year old boy. It has too much fighting in it for me...and just the right amount for Keith. It's fun to be able to discuss it with him now. He's bugging me to read the rest of the series now. Yikes! So much violence!

  6. The Goose Girl was quite good - I just read it too. In fact probably anything by Shannon Hale - I also really enjoyed Book of a Thousand Days and Austenland. (The only other ones I've read of hers, although others are on my list.)

I read The Hunger Games yesterday (pretty much start to finish). I've read almost half of another book this morning... but I still can't get The Hunger Games off my mind. A very compelling read. Word to the wise - have the sequel fairly handy. Perhaps better yet - wait till August so the whole trilogy is in print and ready to read.
